Netflix Baramulla trailer: Manav Kaul leads a supernatural mystery set in Kashmir

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Baramulla, a haunting supernatural thriller that delves deep into the mysteries and trauma of Kashmir. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, known for Article 370, the film fuses elements of horror, psychological drama, and crime investigation against the eerie backdrop of the valley.

The story begins when children start vanishing under mysterious circumstances in the mist-laden town of Baramulla. To uncover the truth, DSP Ridwaan Shafi Sayyid, played by Manav Kaul, is brought in to investigate. A hard-nosed officer with an unsettling past, Ridwaan finds himself entangled in a web of local superstitions, political tension, and secrets that the valley refuses to give up easily.

Ridwaan’s move to Baramulla with his wife Gulnaar (Bhasha Sumbli) and their two children, Noorie (Arista Mehta) and Ayaan (Rohaan Singh), sets the stage for a slow unraveling of dread. The family’s new home becomes the epicenter of strange, unexplainable happenings. Gulnaar begins sensing an unseen presence — footsteps at night, whispers in empty rooms, the smell of a dog that doesn’t exist. The line between reality and nightmare starts to blur, creating a growing sense of paranoia.

The trailer hints at a tense interplay between the personal and the political. The chilling visuals of the Kashmir valley, usually romanticized for its beauty, are instead weaponized to evoke isolation and fear. Manav Kaul’s restrained performance anchors the chaos, portraying a man torn between duty, faith, and the ghosts of his own making.

Baramulla stands out not just for its supernatural intrigue but for how it mirrors the unrest of the land itself. Each disappearance becomes symbolic of a deeper void — one rooted in collective grief and silence. The film’s tone suggests that the true horror might not be otherworldly at all, but human.

Produced by Netflix India, Baramulla promises a gripping blend of atmospheric storytelling, emotional weight, and slow-burn suspense. It’s scheduled to stream soon, offering viewers a story that tests both their nerves and their empathy.
