Mona Singh has revealed a hilarious behind-the-scenes moment from the making of The Bads of Bollywood, recalling how she nervously asked Shah Rukh Khan to leave the set while she was filming the recreation of the iconic track Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela.
The sequence that was a digitally enhanced homage to the 1997 Gupt song has since gone viral across social media, earning Mona surprising levels of attention.
Speaking to News18, Mona said she became too self-conscious performing in front of SRK, who frequently visited the sets during the show’s production.
Mona explained that while audiences loved the final result, shooting the song was far more intimidating than expected.
Mona, whose face was digitally superimposed onto Bhanupriya’s character from Gupt, said she did not anticipate the overwhelming reaction the recreated track would generate. “My DMs were overflowing with memes of Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela. That song went wild again — it was trending! My team even told me, 'Why don’t you use the song and post something?' I thought, okay, let’s go with the flow. I absolutely loved the response. It’s been very, very overwhelming,” she shared.
However, the most memorable moment for her came from a candid exchange with Shah Rukh Khan. Reflecting on the day she shot the viral track, Mona said SRK happened to be present on set, and she immediately panicked.

“Of course! He used to come to the sets. In fact, the day we were shooting Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela, he was there. I remember saying, 'Sir, you cannot be here! I can’t do this in front of you.' He laughed and said, 'Mona, what do you mean? You have to be professional.' But I insisted, 'Not in front of you, please leave!’” she recalled, adding that SRK eventually stepped out while laughing at her nervousness.
Mona plays Neeta in Aryan Khan’s debut Netflix series. Hers is a character whose emotional backstory is crucial to the show’s climax. Director Aryan Khan chose to insert her into the recreated song to highlight the shared past between Neeta and Bobby Deol’s Ajay Talvar.
The ensemble cast also includes Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Aanya Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Manoj Pahwa, Gautami Kapoor, Rajat Bedi, and Vijayant Kohli.
