Elon Musk is once again at the centre of a social media storm — and this time, Netflix is in his crosshairs.
Over the past few days, the tech billionaire has been urging his millions of followers on X (formerly Twitter) to cancel their Netflix subscriptions.
His posts, ranging from blunt to deeply personal, include statements like “Cancel Netflix” and “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids,” making it clear that he’s not just casually unfollowing — he’s staging a protest.
So, what triggered this reaction?
As per Hindustan Times, it all began when Musk came across a social media post highlighting comments made by Hamish Steele, the creator of the Netflix animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park.
In a now-viral post on Bluesky, Steele referred to conservative political activist Charlie Kirk — who was recently shot and killed — using derogatory language, even calling him a “nazi.” Many viewed the post as insensitive and accused Steele of mocking Kirk’s death.
Musk, who attended Kirk’s funeral alongside thousands of others, including former President Donald Trump, was quick to express his disapproval. He reposted a message from another user who had cancelled their Netflix subscription, saying, “Same.”
According to Musk, hiring someone who “celebrated the murder of Charlie Kirk” and “makes content that pushes pro-trans content on my kids” was reason enough to cut ties with the platform.
But it didn’t stop there. Musk also criticised Netflix for what he perceives as bias in its diversity and inclusion efforts. Responding to a post that claimed Netflix was “boasting about discriminating against White people,” Musk didn’t hold back, replying, “Cancel Netflix.”

The anger surrounding Steele’s show resurfaced again when a clip from Dead End: Paranormal Park began circulating on X, with critics calling it overly “woke” and inappropriate for children.
Musk even went so far as to label the creator a “groomer,” a serious accusation that echoes his frequent warnings about the so-called “woke mind virus.”
For Musk, this isn’t just about one show or one post — it’s part of a larger fight against what he views as political and cultural overreach by major media platforms.
Whether or not Netflix responds, the debate has clearly struck a chord online — and Musk shows no signs of backing down.
