Nimrat Kaur unveils her father major Bhupendra Singh's statue in Sri Ganganagar on his 72nd birth anniversary

Major Singh was abducted by enemy forces on January 17, 1994, and tragically martyred six days later, on January 23. In recognition of his exceptional bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra on March 13, 1994, coincidentally, Nimrat Kaur’s birthday.

Actor Nimrat kaur who is known for her work in films such as The Lunchbox, Airlift, and Dasvi took to her X account and posed with her father's, Major Bhupendra Singh statue in Sri Ganganagar. This day marks the 72nd birth anniversary of her father.

The public ceremony held for the inauguration of the statue welcomed community members and dignitaries, with an invitation extended by Nimrat for all to pay tribute to the heroic soldier.

Her post read, "Today, on my father’s 72nd Birth Anniversary, a long term dream for our family came true by inaugurating a war memorial created dedicated to him and 12 other gallant martyrs all hailing from Papa’s hometown Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. May the supreme sacrifice of all these soldiers be remembered forever and inspire generations to come. My deepest gratitude to our army family in tandem with the civil administration and authorities for making this dream come true for our family. Jai Hind"

 

Nimrat Kaur lost her father when she was 11 years old.
