As the legal dispute between K-pop group NewJeans and their agency ADOR intensifies, the members’ parents have issued a strong rebuttal against recent reports of internal discord.
On April 3, 2025, during the first hearing of the exclusive contract validity lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court, the presiding judge questioned the role of parental authority in the minors’ legal decisions—referring specifically to members Hyein and Haerin.
This prompted a wave of media speculation, including claims of disagreement among the members’ parents regarding the contract termination with ADOR. In response, the parents of all five members—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Hyein, and Haerin—issued a joint statement firmly denying such rumours.
“The reports from some media outlets claiming that there is a division among the members’ parents are completely untrue. We are making this statement to correct any misunderstandings,” they said in their statement.
Hello. We are the parents of the members. The reports from some media outlets claiming that there is a division among the members parents are completely untrue. We are making this statement to correct any misunderstandings. All five members have a firm stance that they cannot pic.twitter.com/2umQSZc37RMHDHH Loops (@newjeans_loop) April 4, 2025
The parents emphasised that all five members are united in their decision not to return to HYBE, ADOR’s parent company. They revealed that the group had agreed from the start not to pursue any legal action unless all five members were aligned.
The statement went on to address specific rumours targeting Haerin’s family, calling them baseless and harmful. “The rumours regarding member Haerin are completely untrue. Haerin and her parents are fully aligned in their position, and any speculation about their family matters is also false. Due to these unfounded and one-sided speculations, both the member and her family are experiencing severe emotional distress.”

Regarding questions about parental authority raised in court, the parents clarified that in the cited case, a mutual agreement had already been reached between the involved guardian and the member. They stressed that no legal steps were taken without proper authorisation.
“It almost feels as if someone is deliberately trying to create division,” they said.
The ongoing legal battle, which began in November 2024, centers around NewJeans’ claim that ADOR failed to uphold their contractual obligations, leading to their decision to terminate the agreement.
