The 11-year-old Brazilian child actress Millena Brando, who was most famous for her part in the hit Netflix series Sintonia, died after a sudden and mysterious illness.
Millena passed away on Friday, May 2, according to her parents, Thays and Luiz Brando, who confirmed the tragic news. Her death's precise cause is still unknown and is being looked into by medical professionals.
According to People, Millena's symptoms, which included intense headaches, leg pain, exhaustion, and a noticeable decrease in appetite, started on April 24. Importantly, doctors did not perform any diagnostic tests despite their initial suspicion of dengue fever, according to her mother Thays, who spoke to Brazilian news agency G1. Rather, she was sent home with a prescription for the common painkiller dipyrone.
Regretfully, Millena's health quickly declined. She was unable to walk by April 26. She was once more released from the hospital without a conclusive diagnosis in spite of this concerning development. The young actress then passed out in her home's bathroom on April 28. Her parents hurried her back to the hospital right away, and she was eventually admitted for additional monitoring.
The following morning, Millena suffered her first cardiac arrest. A CT scan later revealed a 5-centimetre mass in her brain. However, due to the absence of a neurologist on duty, the medical team was unable to determine whether the mass was a tumour, cyst, or blood clot. During her hospitalisation, Millena endured 13 cardiac arrests and multiple respiratory failures. “She never had this before,” Thays said. “One day she had seven respiratory arrests.”

Eventually, after doctors declared her brain dead, her parents were faced with an impossible decision. “We requested that the machines be shut down. We knew she wouldn’t return,” her mother shared, describing the devastating moment they let her go.
Thays honoured her daughter’s memory in a poignant Instagram post, writing, “I'll love you forever, you’ll always be in my heart.” She described Millena as “a light in our lives,” leaving fans and the Brazilian entertainment community mourning the loss of a bright young talent taken far too soon.
