Netflix’s Squid Game Season 3 will soon hit the streaming giant, and the makers have recently created excitement among the fans with the release of an exciting trailer for the new season.

However, director Hwang Dong-hyuk has recently offered new gripping details of the new season, doubling the excitement among the viewers. The filmmaker described Season 3 as a darker chapter.

According to Soompi, Dong-hyuk said, “Season 3 will be darker and more brutal than Season 2, but at the same time, quite clever and humorous.”

He explained, “I wanted to show a sense of childhood mixed with the bleak situations the characters face, their moral dilemmas, and the cruel fates that await them.”

The director also revealed that he wants to leave the viewers with some crucial questions, like Have we retained our humanity? And if so, is it powerful enough to make the world a better place?

The new season also promises a twisted world where survival isn't just physical; it's psychological.

Meanwhile, art director Chae Kyoung Sun also detailed the revamped set designs of Season 3 and revealed that the upcoming instalment features a thematic design that introduces imagery inspired by poisonous plants - a metaphor for beauty hiding danger.

She shared, “I saw evil, like cruelty and violence, as poison. So I used different colors to represent poisonous plants when designing the VIP room.”

From the lavish decorations to the understated color palettes, viewers will spot subtle details that suggest deception, danger, and psychological games.

Chae explained, “If Season 1 showed the law of the jungle with a grassland theme, Season 3 boldly creates a space using bright but dangerous poisonous plants in its design.”

The final instalment in the franchise promises an unforgettable endgame with new games, familiar betrayals, and a final shot at survival.

Squid Game Season 3 will pick up right from Season 2’s cliffhanger, following a brutal rebellion, a friend's tragic death, and a hidden betrayal. Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, is at an all-time low, but the Squid Game marches on, forcing him to make tough decisions amidst overwhelming despair. As the surviving players face deadlier challenges, their choices have increasingly dire consequences, pushing everyone's resolve to the limit.

Squid Game Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on June 27 on Netflix.
