Actor Sanjay Dutt, Nora Fatehi, and members of the film's crew have been summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW) in response to the growing controversy surrounding the song "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke" from KD: The Devil.
The action was taken in response to several complaints alleging that the song had offensive and sexually explicit lyrics as well as undesirable imagery that could hurt viewers, particularly children. The NCW has acknowledged the issue and requested an explanation from the creators and contributors of the song.
Following its debut, the song drew criticism from industry insiders and on social media. Critics have called its lyrics and choreography as vulgar, sparking debates about the limits of creative freedom and responsibility in entertainment. The song has been removed from YouTube.
Authorities began taking action to resolve the matter as the debate intensified. In response to public outcry, the government has already taken action, directing the removal of the song from platforms.
The NCW’s summons marks a significant escalation in the matter, bringing it into the realm of legal and regulatory considerations. The commission is expected to review the complaints and determine whether further action is required under existing laws related to obscenity and the portrayal of women.
In the meantime, opinions remain divided on the issue. Some contend that these songs are part of long-standing patterns in Indian cinema, while others believe more stringent regulations are necessary to prevent potentially harmful or improper content.
