The Nandamuri family is mourning the loss of Smt. Padmaja, wife of Nandamuri Jayakrishna and daughter-in-law of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). She passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 73.

Padmaja was widely respected in the family for her quiet dignity and grace. As the eldest daughter-in-law of NTR and Smt. Basava Rama Tarakam, she held a significant position in one of the most prominent political and cinema families in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. She was also the sister of senior politician Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, which further strengthened her ties to the state’s influential political circles.

As the wife of Jayakrishna, NTR’s second son, Padmaja witnessed and supported the family’s journey through cinema, politics, and public life. Family members recall her as a woman with a soft demeanor but remarkable resilience, always standing by her loved ones through challenges over the decades.

Reports suggest that Padmaja had been unwell for some time and was under medical care. On Monday night, she reportedly suffered severe breathing difficulties and was rushed to the hospital. Despite immediate medical attention, she could not be revived and breathed her last in the early hours of Tuesday.

The news of her demise has deeply saddened the family and the larger political fraternity. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who is also a son-in-law of Sr. NTR, immediately left Vijayawada to be with the grieving family. BJP leader and Padmaja’s sister-in-law, Daggubati Purandeswari, is traveling from Delhi to join the family during this difficult time.

The funeral details are expected to be announced soon. Family members, friends, and political colleagues are likely to gather in large numbers to pay their last respects to Padmaja, whose life was marked by dignity, compassion, and unwavering support to one of the most influential families of South India.
