Naga Chaitanya, who is currently earning praise for his role in the film Thandel alongside Sai Pallavi, often make headlines due to his second marriage to actress Sobhitha Dhulipala.
Speculation around his past relationship with his ex-wife, Samantha, often spark intense media discussion, with many wondering whether Samantha chose to part ways with him or if Naga himself decided to move on.
Now, in response to these ongoing rumors, Naga's father and veteran actor Nagarjuna has finally addressed the situation, providing his perspective on the matter. This marks the first time the senior actor has publicly spoken about the personal lives of his son and daughter-in-law, adding clarity to the media frenzy surrounding the couple’s separation.
Discussing Chaitanya's journey to finding love again, Nagarjuna expressed his joy, saying that his son is finally happy once more. He acknowledged that Chaitanya's divorce from Samantha was a difficult time for both him and their entire family.
While talking to Time Now, Naga said, "Chay has found happiness again. He is very happy. So am I! It has not been an easy time for Chay or the family. The separation from Samantha left him very depressed. My boy doesn’t show his feelings to anyone. But I knew he was unhappy."
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu tied the knot in 2017 after dating for a few years. While Samantha was known for her outgoing and lively nature, Chaitanya was more reserved and kept to himself. Despite their differences, they complemented each other well. However, after several years together, the couple parted ways in 2021, and their separation was far from amicable. Just before Naga Chaitanya's wedding to Sobhita Dhulipala, his father, Nagarjuna, opened up about how his son was coping post-divorce.
Nagarjuna shared that seeing his son, Chay, smile again with Sobhita was a heartwarming moment for him. When asked about his relationship with his ex-daughter-in-law, Samantha, and whether it had changed after the divorce, he responded, "That remains unaltered. What happens between a couple is an entirely different matter."
Three years after their separation, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha still encounter people eager to know what went wrong in their marriage. The actor addressed this curiosity, stating that both he and Samantha have moved on with mutual respect for each other. He also reflected on his parents' divorce, sharing how he understands the pain and challenges that come with it. Before making the decision to separate, Naga Chaitanya confessed that he had thought about the situation thoroughly, considering it a thousand times.
He opened up about his personal experience in a candid conversation on Raw Talks with Vk. Chay mentioned, "It was for the betterment of whoever was involved in the marriage... Whatever the decision was, it was a very conscious decision after much thought and with a lot of respect for the other person. I'm saying this because it's a very sensitive topic for me. I come from a broken family. I'm a child from a broken family so I know what the experience is like. I will think 1000 times before breaking a relationship because I know the repercussions... It was a mutual decision."
In addition to discussing his own journey of moving on, Naga Chaitanya subtly hinted at Samantha doing the same, breaking his silence on her relationship status.
His comments come amid reports of Samantha's connection with Citadel: Honey Bunny director Raj Nidimoru. The actor emphasized that both he and Samantha have moved on gracefully, showing maturity and respect for each other’s paths forward.
