Naga Vamsi announces Vayaputra

After the massive success of Mahavatar Narsimha at the box office, Telugu producer Naga Vamsi is all set to bring another mythological tale to life — and this time, it’s through animation.

On 10 September, Vamsi took to social media to unveil Vayuputra, an ambitious animated film based on the legendary journey of Lord Hanuman.

Sharing the powerful first-look poster, the Kingdom and Mahavatar producer wrote, “An immortal tale, reborn in a way the world has never witnessed. VAYUPUTRA ~ The Legend of Lord Hanuman, like never before. A story that we’ve been working on for the past couple of years. A brainchild of Chandoo Mondeti’s long-cherished vision, now taking shape as we begin production. A cinematic journey to inspire generations. In cinemas for Dussehra 2026, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam & Kannada.”

People are already very excited after seeing the poster, which depicts one of the most famous scenes from the Ramayana: Hanuman standing tall over a burning Lanka with his tail on fire.

The imagery provides a novel and original viewpoint on the epic by hinting that the story may be told from Hanuman's point of view.

The film will be directed by Chandoo Mondeti, best known for Thandel and the Karthikeya films. This marks his first animated feature, but with his flair for fantasy storytelling, fans are hopeful for something special.

Vayuputra will be produced under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya. The film is slated to hit theatres during Dussehra 2026 and will be released in five major Indian languages.

Animated Indian films have often struggled to find space at the mainstream box office — but the runaway success of Mahavatar Narsimha, which grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide, has shown that audiences are ready for visually rich, culturally rooted stories.
