Vijay Sethupathi will star in the upcoming web series Muthu Engira Kaattaan (also known as Kaattaan). The producers have now released the official trailer for the show ahead of its OTT streaming premiere.

The action-drama has gotten a lot of attention, especially because Vijay plays a mysterious protagonist.

Confirmed date for OTT release

Starting on March 27, 2026, Muthu Engira Kaattaan will be available to stream on JioHotstar. The platform's South Unbound event was where the series was first announced. Later, the release date and trailer were confirmed on the streamer's official social media channels.

The team asked the interesting question, "Who is this Muthu alias Kaattaan?" to introduce the show. This hinted at the complex story that is at the heart of the series.

Story and trailer highlights

The series is about a mysterious person named Muthu, and different people tell his story in different ways. Some people see him as a saviour, while others see him as a scary figure or even a mythical being.

As the story goes on, the show tries to find out the truth behind these different views and show who Muthu really is. The trailer makes it seem like the movie will be dark and intense, with action, mystery, and psychological drama.

The cast and crew

Milind Soman plays a major role in the series, along with Vijay Sethupathi. Other important roles are played by Sudev Nair, Vadivel Murugan, Risha Jacobs, VJ Parvathy, Kalaivani Bhaskar, and Muthukumar.

M. Manikandan, who is known for Kadaisi Vivasayi, created the series and co-directed it with B. Ajithkumar. Rajesh Murugesan writes the music, and Madhu Neelakandan takes care of the cinematography.

Vijay Sethupathi's next projects

Vijay Sethupathi has a lot of movies coming out. In the next movie, Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road, directed by Puri Jagannadh, he will be starring alongside Samyuktha and Tabu.

He also talked about Pocket Novel, which will be directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja. This will be their first movie together since Super Deluxe, with Malavika Mohanan and Raj B. Shetty as the main characters.
