Kalyani Priyadarshan opens up on teaming up with rapper Divine for “You & I”

Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan opened up about her collaboration with rapper Divine on their trending single "You & I," describing the experience as both a creative high and a significant opportunity. The song, a modern spin on R.D. Burman’s classic "Mehbooba Mehbooba" from the film Sholay, marks Priyadarshan's first foray into a non-film music video, building on the momentum of her groovier side showcased in Kiliye Kiliye.

Priyadarshan shared her genuine admiration for Divine's craft, an artist she has followed for years. She highlighted the raw emotion and honesty that define his music, noting, "His work comes straight from his heart and experiences, and that honesty is what makes it so powerful.” For her, the collaboration was more than just another project; it was an honor to work with someone whose authenticity she deeply respects.

A standout aspect of the experience was the level of trust Divine placed in his creative partners.
