Steven Spielberg has officially joined the elite EGOT club. At the 68th Grammy Awards, held on Sunday, February 1, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the legendary filmmaker won his first-ever Grammy, completing the rare feat of securing an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
Hosted by Trevor Noah for the sixth consecutive year, the Grammys 2026 celebrated music’s biggest stars and chart-topping achievements across 95 categories.
Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Olivia Dean and even the Dalai Lama emerged among the night’s top winners. However, one of the most historic moments belonged to Spielberg, who won Best Music Film as a producer on Music by John Williams (2024).
The win marks Steven Spielberg’s long-awaited Grammy debut and cements his EGOT status, an honour achieved by only a select group of artists.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 79-year-old filmmaker expressed heartfelt gratitude following the win.
“Thank you to all the Grammy voters, whose recognition of Music by John Williams means the world to me and our Amblin team, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, and congratulations to our partners at Imagine and the Walt Disney Company,” Spielberg said in a statement.
Reflecting on his decades-long collaboration with composer John Williams, he added, “This acknowledgment is obviously deeply meaningful to me because it validates what I have known for over 50 years: John Williams’ influence on culture and music is immeasurable and his artistry and legacy is unrivaled. I am proud to be associated with Laurent Bouzereau’s beautiful film.”
With this milestone, Steven Spielberg now stands alongside EGOT winners such as Rita Moreno, Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn and Robert Lopez.
