Ahead of the IPL season this year,  several top cricketers, including MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson, were seen catching a show of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 in Chennai recently.

As seen in paparazzi videos on social media, MS Dhoni was spotted getting out of his car amidst a heavy crowd surrounding him as he entered Sathyam Cinema theatres in Chennai guarded by his security.

The former Indian captain made his way into the theatre under tight security, with fans eagerly trying to catch a glimpse of him.

According to reports, he was reportedly accompanied by Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, thus giving the cricket-film connection a new dimension.

It seems the film has caught the attention of cricketers in different parts of the country. Shreyas Iyer, the skipper of Punjab Kings, has also been spotted watching the action-packed entertainer in Mohali, thus giving a new dimension to the popularity of the film, which has been released on March 19.

Given that the IPL 2026 is set to commence on March 28, it seems cricketers have taken a break from their hectic training schedules to relax before the commencement of the month-long tournament.

In Chennai, the buzz surrounding the Chennai Super Kings has been equally high. The franchise recently hosted its grand ROAR 2026 event at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk.

One of the standout moments from the event featured Dhoni sharing a fun and energetic moment with former teammate Dwayne Bravo. In a video that quickly went viral, Bravo performed his iconic track “Champion” in front of a packed stadium, with the current CSK squad watching from the front row. Spotting Dhoni, Bravo walked up to him, the two embraced warmly, and then broke into an impromptu dance, much to the delight of fans.

While speculation continues around whether IPL 2026 could mark Dhoni’s final season on the field, recent team developments — including the recruitment of Sanju Samson — have only added fuel to the ongoing rumours, keeping fans guessing about what lies ahead for the legendary cricketer.
