Mrunal Thakur recently opened up about a deeply personal chapter from her past while appearing on Raunaq Rajani’s show Relationship Advice alongside co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi. The two were promoting their upcoming film Do Deewane Seher Mein when the conversation turned to jealousy and insecurity in relationships.

When asked whether she considers herself secure, Mrunal admitted she has had moments of doubt. That prompted her to share an anecdote about her Scandinavian ex-boyfriend, who struggled with her working alongside some of Bollywood’s most celebrated leading men.

“In the initial stages of my career, I was shooting with Hrithik Roshan, then Shahid Kapoor. And I’m an only long-distance person, I think it’s the best because you can then focus on your work,” she said candidly.

She went on to explain how her ex found it difficult to cope with her professional proximity to actors widely admired for their looks. “This guy, who was a Scandinavian, thought that I was hanging around and shooting with a lot of good-looking men. So, he started working out. Lost like some, 15-17 kgs. He got muscles.”

Mrunal revealed that the transformation, however, did not come from encouragement or expectation on her part. “Later, I found out that after a point, he stopped working out, started eating, and gained 20 more kg. He said he’s tired of catching up, but I was like, I never asked you to lose weight. It was his insecurity. I never made him feel like I needed to date a man who has muscles,” she added.

For context, Mrunal shared screen space with Hrithik Roshan in the 2019 film Super 30 and with Shahid Kapoor in the 2022 sports drama Jersey. The experience of dating someone who felt threatened by her co-stars seems to have shaped her perspective on emotional security.

Meanwhile, Siddhant shared his own college memories of feeling insecure about wealth and status. He spoke about being conscious of economic differences, especially since the girl he liked came from a privileged background. Rajani jokingly compared his story to the narrative arc of Gully Boy, which Siddhant famously starred in.

Professionally, Mrunal has had a packed few years. She starred in The Family Star, made a cameo in Kalki 2898 AD, and appeared in Son of Sardaar 2 in 2025. She also has Dacoit: A Love Story, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Pooja Meri Jaan lined up.

Interestingly, Do Deewane Seher Mein itself explores insecurities within relationships. Life imitating art, perhaps.
