Mrunal Thakur joins Allu Arjun in Atlee’s next pan-India action spectacle

AA22xA6 is envisioned as a high-concept action saga set in a parallel universe, with Allu Arjun playing a double role for the first time in his career.

Mrunal Thakur is all set to make waves yet again in South cinema, this time opposite Telugu superstar Allu Arjun. The actress has been roped in to play the female lead in director Atlee’s much-anticipated action entertainer, tentatively titled AA22xA6. The film promises to be a grand, VFX-driven spectacle and is already creating massive buzz.

According to Peeping Moon, Mrunal recently participated in a look test at a Mumbai studio and has officially been cast as the romantic lead opposite Allu Arjun. This will mark their first on-screen collaboration, something both actors have been keen on after Allu Arjun praised her moving performance in Hi Nanna (2023). Mrunal will reportedly sport a look distinct from her earlier South roles, further highlighting her versatility.

While Mrunal has been finalized, two more female leads are expected to join the ensemble. Janhvi Kapoor is reportedly close to signing on, while discussions with Deepika Padukone are still underway.

Production is expected to begin around August or September, though timelines are still being finalized due to the project’s extensive prep work.

For Mrunal Thakur, this film adds another exciting chapter to her rapidly growing South filmography, following titles like Sita Ramam, The Family Star, and the upcoming Dacoit: A Love Story. She also has an impressive slate of Hindi films lined up, including Son of Sardaar 2, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, and Pooja Meri Jaan.

With a star-studded cast, an ambitious narrative, and a director known for delivering blockbusters, AA22xA6 is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most awaited films.
