Mrunal Thakur has once again landed in hot waters as an old interview of hers has resurfaced online. In the video, the actress is seen revealing that she had rejected a big film that eventually turned into a blockbuster, but her remarks about the actress who replaced her have now sparked a fresh round of debates.
In the clip, Mrunal can be heard saying, “So many. I said no, honestly, because I was not ready. Controversies ho jayegi. It became a super hit and did help the female actress to reach there. But, then I realised if I would have done that film at that point of time, I would have lost myself.”

She further added that not doing the project worked out in her favor in the long run. “Then she is not working at the moment, but I am, is itself a victory because I don’t want instant gratification, instant recognition, instant fame because anything that comes instantly goes away instantly.”
These statements instantly caught the attention of netizens, who began speculating about which film and actress Mrunal was referring to. One Reddit user commented, “I think it is Sultan and Anushka.” Another chimed in, “Movie Sultan Actress – Anushka Sharma, Cause I saw a video where she said she got a Sultan movie, lekin end me Anushka final hui something like that. Plus, Anushka isn’t working. I might be wrong.”
This is not the first time Mrunal has been called out for her old remarks. Recently, an earlier video of hers with actor Arjit Taneja also went viral, where she was heard making comments about Bipasha Basu’s physique. In the clip, Mrunal had said, “Do you want to marry a girl who is manly with muscles? Go marry Bipasha.” She further added, “Listen, I am far better than Bipasha, okay?”
The comments did not sit well with fans, who accused Mrunal of body-shaming Bipasha. Following the backlash, Mrunal issued an apology on Instagram. She wrote, “19-year-old me as a teenager said many silly things. I didn’t always understand the weight of my voice or how much words, even in jest, could hurt. But it did, and for that I am deeply sorry.”

She continued, “My intent was never to body-shame anyone. It was playful banter in an interview that went too far. But I understand how it came across, and I truly wish I had chosen my words differently. With time, I have grown to appreciate that beauty comes in every form, and that’s something I truly value now.”
Bipasha, without naming Mrunal, had later shared a cryptic note emphasizing the importance of women empowering each other. Her post read, “Strong women lift each other up. Get those muscles beautiful ladies… we should be strong… muscles help you attain good physical and mental health forever! Bust the age old thought process that women should not look strong or be physically strong!”
