The Marathi-language movie has reached yet another significant festival milestone with its official selection for the esteemed Indian Panorama section.

After earning praise at both the Kolkata International Film Festival and the Jagran International Film Festival, the short documentary Where The Heart Is is gearing up for another major showcase — this time at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

The Marathi-language movie has reached yet another significant festival milestone with its official selection for the esteemed Indian Panorama section.

Ulka Mayur is the writer and director of the documentary, which made its world premiere at the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) in Toronto last month. Mayur Puri is the producer, and Ulka Mayur and Mannan Shaah are listed as co-producers.

Where The Heart Is follows Umesh Garate on his annual trip from Mumbai to his ancestral village for the Ganapati festival. The film beautifully captures the emotion of returning home, the joy of family reunions, and the changing landscape brought on by migration.

Through the Garate family’s experiences, it explores themes of belonging, memory, and the subtle transformations taking place in rural homes.

Sharing her thoughts on the film’s growing reception, director Ulka Mayur said, “It’s heartening to see the film generating such positive buzz on the festival circuit. Our premiere in Toronto was truly special, and the response in India has been just as encouraging. I am truly honoured that the film will be screened at IFFI now and looking forward to people watching it there.”

The documentary will be screened on the 23rd and 24th of November at IFFI in Goa.
