Malavika Mohanan recently shared her heartfelt experience of working on the set of Hridayapoorvam, a film starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. The movie, directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, marks a reunion between Mohanlal and Anthikad, a duo known for delivering numerous hits in the 1980s, including Nadodikaattu and Varavelpu.
Malavika, who plays the female lead in the film, described the set experience as exceptionally warm and familial. “Very rarely does a set feel like family,” she said, emphasizing how special this project was for her. She announced the completion of the first shooting schedule and expressed gratitude for the cast and crew who made her feel at home.
Taking to her social media, Malavika referred to the experience as “beautiful, warm, wholesome, heartwarming” and something that “feels like family.” She elaborated on the fleeting nature of relationships in the film industry, where actors and crew members often move from one project to another without forming deep bonds. “When we are jumping from one film to the other, we make friends, acquaintances, confidantes, or sometimes people just remain good colleagues, but very rarely does a set feel like family. This one is that for me,” she wrote, adding that her soul felt “nourished and happy.”
In addition to her experience on set, Malavika expressed admiration for both Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad, praising their ability to create cinematic magic. She stated that their collaboration is filled with “so much of dignity and respect and grace,” highlighting the deep-rooted professionalism and artistry that defines their work.
Reflecting on the film’s picturesque shooting location in Thekkady, Malavika shared how she enjoyed working in the “beautiful hills and tea estates,” drinking “endless lemon teas to keep me warm in the cold evenings.” She also gave a special “shoutout to the loveliest team of assistant directors without whom this film would not be what it is.”
The film Hridayapoorvam is scripted by Sonu TP and based on a story by Akhil Sathyan, who is the son of director Sathyan Anthikad. Akhil has carved a name for himself in the industry, having recently directed Pachuvum Athbudha Vilakkum, a Fahadh Faasil-starrer. His twin brother, Anoop, is also a filmmaker and is serving as an associate director on this project.
Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, Hridayapoorvam features Anu Moothedath as the cinematographer and K Rajagopal as the editor, with Justin Prabhakaran handling the music composition.
The film also marks a long-awaited reunion between Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad after nearly a decade. Their last collaboration was in Ennu Eppozhum, and their history of successful films from the 1980s—including Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanamand Gandhinagar 2nd Street—has set high expectations for this upcoming venture.
With such an experienced team behind it, Hridayapoorvam is shaping up to be a film filled with nostalgia, warmth, and engaging storytelling, making it one of the most anticipated Malayalam films of the year.
