The Walt Disney Co.'s animated film 'Moana 2' is going to have its OTT release soon. The movie, which earned a staggering $1.027 billion worldwide globally, will be streaming on Disney + Hotstar from next month or March. It is the fifth highest grossing movie of all time.
Prior to its digital streaming date, the film is currently available on rent on OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple + and YouTube TV.
Moana 2 is going to stream on Disney + Hotstar in March 2025.
Originally conceived as a Disney+ series, 'Moana 2' broke into the top five highest grossing releases of the year. Its performance means Disney has three films in this year’s top five, including “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Moana 2 became the the fourth highest-grossing film of year 2024.
According to the recent film schedules, the producers have a 100-day theatrical window between its cinematic and digital release. So going by this then the movie should be available on OTT from March 6, 2024.
Going by the previous release pattern, Disney has always chosen Wednesday as the release day. Hence, the audience can expect the film to stream on the OTT platform from March 12, 2025.
‘Moana 2’ was released in the theatres on November 29, 2024, in India.
The second film in the Moana franchise, it was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller from a screenplay by Jared Bush and Miller.
The film saw Dwayne Johnson, Auliʻi Cravalho, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Rachel House, Alan Tudyk and Jemaine Clement reprise their roles from the first film.
Moana 2 was set three years after the first film and it followed the titular character reuniting with the demigod Maui and assembling a wayfinding crew to find the lost island of Motufetu, break its curse, and reconnect the people of the ocean.
