Telangana is set to take centre stage on the global beauty map as it prepares to host the 72nd Miss World pageant this year. The official announcement was made by Julia Morley, Chairperson and CEO of Miss World Limited, along with Smita Sabharwal, Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Tourism, Culture, Heritage, and Youth Affairs Department.
The event promises to highlight the state’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic growth, making it a perfect venue for such a prestigious international occasion.
The pageant will commence on May 4, and it will span over 28 days, with the grand opening and closing ceremonies scheduled to take place in Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana.
As part of the pageant’s itinerary, other destinations across the state will also be showcased, providing a unique glimpse into Telangana’s beauty and cultural diversity.
Contestants will arrive in the state on May 4, with the grand finale set for May 31, where reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková, will crown her successor.
The Miss World Organisation has expressed its excitement about bringing the event to Telangana, citing the state’s reputation for safety, hospitality, and its thriving international ecosystem.
As per reports in The Hindu, these factors make Telangana an ideal destination for both local and global visitors alike. “We are delighted to bring the 72nd Miss World Festival to Telangana, a State that beautifully represents its rich culture, innovation, and hospitality,” said Julia Morley as per The Hindu's report.

Smita Sabharwal also emphasised the cultural significance of the event for Telangana. She stated that the pageant would provide a platform to showcase the state’s handlooms, art forms, tourist destinations, and rich cuisine. “Telangana is a vibrant state with a rich cultural history, and this event will allow us to present the diverse experiences it has to offer to a worldwide audience,” she said.
