Popular Malayalam rapper Vedan, whose real name is Hirandas Murali, has recently landed in legal trouble over a false promise of marriage. A case of rape on the pretext of a false promise of marriage has been registered against the rapper.

A young female doctor has filed a complaint at the Thrikkakara police station on Thursday, July 31. According to PTI, the doctor alleged in the police complaint that he sexually assaulted her on several occasions between 2021-2023 at various places in the state.

A senior police officer has shared that an FIR under section 376 IPC against the rapper was filed at Thrikkakara police station late Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the doctor, whose identity has not been revealed publicly, also claimed that she had lent money to the rapper over the years. She also accused him of emotionally traumatising her after he abruptly ended their relationship.

However, this is not the first time Vedan has landed in a legal controversy. Previously, he was arrested in a drug case. He was later released on bail in April this year.

Soon after his drug case, Vedan was arrested by the Forest Department in connection with a leopard tooth found in his possession. He was later released on bail again.

In addition to this, a BJP leader lodged a complaint against him, accusing him of defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promoting caste-based division through his music.
