The buzz surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s grand mythological saga Ramayana has only intensified since the teaser’s release on July 3, offering audiences a breathtaking glimpse into the epic world of Rama vs Ravana.
As anticipation grows, the producers have revealed that Shobana, a legendary figure in Malayalam cinema, will be joining the ensemble.
On her Instagram, the celebrated actress and classical dancer re-shared the teaser for the movie, expressing her happiness and appreciation for being a part of a story that has had a profound impact on generations. She wrote, “Honoured to be part of a story that has shaped generations. Welcome to the world of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, the immortal story of Rama vs Ravana. Grateful to walk this path, and to share it with all of you.”
According to a report by OTT Play, Shobana is reportedly playing the role of Kaikasi, Ravana’s mother, in the film. As per sources, she has already filmed a number of scenes, probably with Yash, who plays Ravana in this film adaptation. The actress hasn't revealed any information about her role in the epic movie, though.
One of India's most ambitious film projects to date is Ramayana, which will be released in two parts: Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman, and Rakul Preet Singh plays Surpanakha.
