Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha has emerged as a massive box office triumph, captivating audiences across the globe. Presented by Hombale Films, the animated mythological drama has exceeded all expectations, crossing the Rs 210 crore (gross) mark worldwide and showing no signs of slowing down.
The production house proudly shared the latest figures on X (formerly Twitter), writing,
"210 CRORES+ worldwide gross & counting… #MahavatarNarsimha continues the glorious run, shattering records and winning the love of millions worldwide. Witness the unstoppable roar on the big screen."
The film’s staggering performance is particularly noteworthy given the competition it faced. Released alongside big-ticket projects like Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Saiyaara, Mahavatar Narsimha has held its ground, proving the power of Indian storytelling rooted in cultural heritage.
Written by Jayapurna Das, Mahavatar Narsimha narrates the epic story of Hiranyakashyap, a demon king who challenges Lord Vishnu. Despite his father’s opposition, young Prince Prahlad remains steadfast in his devotion to Vishnu. The narrative reaches its climactic moment when Vishnu descends in his fierce Narsimha avatar to protect Prahlad and vanquish the tyrant.
The film blends traditional storytelling with cutting-edge animation, making it accessible and engaging for today’s audiences while retaining its spiritual essence.

In a recent conversation with Moneycontrol, director Ashwin Kumar credited the film’s success to the audience’s connection with their cultural roots.
“Collections are the consequence of this feeling, here you have prelude in the lap of Lord Vishnu speaking, tearing up that is what makes it eternal and that is what makes it sanatana."
Kumar also revealed that Mahavatar Narsimha is just the beginning. Produced by Kleem Productions, the movie is the first chapter in the ambitious seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, which will explore all ten avatars of Lord Vishnu in detail.
