Within three days of its premiere, Ashwin Kumar's Mahavatar Narsimha became the highest-grossing Indian animated film ever, setting a new record in the Indian film industry.
The mythological animation has now surpassed the long-running 2005 hit Hanuman to become the most successful animated film in India's history, according to box office tracking website Sacnilk.
The film had a promising start, collecting approximately Rs 1.75 crore on its opening Friday.
But it was over the weekend that Mahavatar Narsimha truly soared—earning Rs 4.6 crore on Saturday and an impressive Rs 9.5 crore on Sunday, pushing its total weekend collection to ₹15.85 crore net. Remarkably, it continued its strong performance on Monday, adding another ₹6.1 crore and bringing the cumulative total to a staggering Rs 21.95 crore.
The film has also caught the attention of superstar Prabhas, who took to social media to praise the project. Sharing the film’s poster, he wrote:
"Huge congratulations to @hombalefilms for bringing the powerful vision of #MahavatarNarsimha to life. Had the chance to watch the film and absolutely loved the action block animation and storytelling. My best wishes to Director Ashwin Kumar and the entire team for this incredible achievement."
The film’s Hindi version has played a pivotal role in this success, contributing a significant ₹15.55 crore to the overall box office figures. The Telugu version also held its own, bringing in around ₹5.57 crore net. Additional revenues came from the Tamil and Malayalam dubs, highlighting the film’s pan-India appeal.
