After 13 years of delay, Vishal and director Sundar C’s much-awaited Tamil film Madha Gaja Raja is finally set for release. The movie, which had been ready for release over a decade ago, will now join the Pongal race, hitting theatres on January 12.

The news was shared on social media this Friday. Vishal takes on the lead role, with Santhanam, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Anjali also featuring in significant roles in this much-anticipated film.

The film’s trailer was initially released back in 2011, and its production was supported by Vishal Film Factory and Gemini Film Circuit. Despite being shelved for a long time, the movie is now ready to be part of the 2025 Pongal release, generating excitement among fans.

With a mix of comedy, action, and drama, the film is expected to capture audience attention, marking a major milestone for its long journey to release.

Madha Gaja Raja (MGR), featuring Vishal and Santhanam, has faced numerous delays since 2013 due to various challenges including financial issues, competition from other films, and legal complications.

Actor Santhanam took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the much-awaited news of Madha Gaja Raja's release.

The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Vishal, Santhanam, Anjali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sathish, Sonu Sood, and the late Mayilsamy, with notable contributions from Manobala and others. Their collective performances are expected to bring a rich, dynamic energy to this long-awaited project.

Madha Gaja Raja features cinematography by Richard M. Nathan, with editing handled by Praveen KL and NB Srikanth. The music for the film is composed by Vijay Antony, adding an additional layer of anticipation for its release.
