As The Summer I Turned Pretty wraps up after three emotional and wildly popular seasons, fans are already feeling the loss of Isabel “Belly” Conklin and the familiar waves of Cousins Beach.
But for 21-year-old breakout star Lola Tung, the series’ end marks the beginning of an exciting new era — and her next move is already making waves.
As per News18, Tung, who quickly became a fan favourite thanks to her heartfelt portrayal of Belly, is making her big-screen debut in Forbidden Fruits — a dark supernatural drama that’s a far cry from teen love triangles and summer sun.
She’ll be sharing the screen with Lili Reinhart and Gabrielle Union in a story that blends the eerie with the emotional.
The film centres on Apple, a seemingly average retail worker who’s secretly the leader of a witch coven that includes her co-workers Cherry and Fig.
However, things take a drastic turn when Pumpkin, a new hire, joins the team. This puts the trio's relationship in jeopardy and forces them to face dangerous secrets and hidden truths.
It’s a major shift in tone for Tung, one that fans are eager to see. After all, she’s traded barefoot beach walks for something far darker — and possibly deadlier.
Off-screen, Tung has also been enjoying her rise in the spotlight. In August, she turned heads at the grand opening of Crocs’ new SoHo store in New York City, where she’s a spokesperson for the brand. Dressed in a relaxed powder blue oversized T-shirt, black painter-style trousers, and caramel-toned Classic Crafted Clogs, she looked effortlessly cool.
“Had the best time meeting you guys yesterday and hanging out at the @crocs new soho store,” she wrote on Instagram, clearly enjoying the fan love.
She also recently dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat about the show’s emotional final season. When asked about the drama of Belly choosing Jeremiah over Conrad, Tung kept things diplomatic: “I’m all for her following her heart,” before cheekily adding, “Team Belly.”
