Lara Dutt shares heartfelt note as Saiyaara becomes a box office success

Lara Dutta has penned an emotional and heartfelt tribute to her dear friend of over 25 years, Deanne Panday, following the blockbuster debut of Deanne’s son, Ahaan Panday, in Saiyaara.

The romantic drama, also featuring Aneet Padda, has taken the box office by storm, amassing an estimated ₹314.10 crore in India alone and securing its place as the highest-grossing love story in Indian cinema.

Sharing her sentiments on Instagram on Sunday, Lara posted a series of throwback photographs with Deanne and Ahaan, reminiscing about the journey they have shared over the decades.

“I went to watch her son Ahaan’s movie (Saiyaara) yesterday… Have known Ahaan since he was a toddler, and it’s been a pleasure to watch him grow into the thoughtful, well-brought-up, charming boy he is. Ahaan was going to be a star — there was no doubt. But this is for his mum…” she began.

Reflecting on the depth of their friendship, Lara wrote, “DP (as I call her) has been more than a friend for over 25 years… she was there when I first moved to Mumbai as a teenager and knew no one, and she and her family made me feel like I had friends who would look out for me… She was there when I won Miss India and Miss Universe, and kept me grounded and focused on my fitness and mental well-being… she’s been there through relationships and breakups and my wedding and the birth of my daughter, and more recently the loss of a parent… she’s just been there, quietly, solidly… with compassion and bravery and love…”

Her post also celebrated Deanne’s unwavering resilience. “I have seen her work tirelessly for her family and friends, even when she was mentally and physically exhausted… she always shows up, every single time, for the people she loves. Quietly slipping in to take care of whatever needs to be done, never asking for anything in return,” Lara wrote.

Concluding her touching message, the actress expressed her admiration for Deanne’s children’s achievements: “I am so thrilled and proud of what your kids have accomplished and I know how hard you’ve worked and how hard you’ve prayed for their well-being and success.”
