Kristin Cabot, the HR head who was captured kissing Astronomer CEO Andy Pyron at Coldplay's concert last year, recently appeared on Oprah Winfrey's podcast and spoke about the entire incident, including her disappointment in Gwyneth Paltrow and Ryan Reynolds for the ad surrounding the controversy.

Speaking on The Oprah Podcast on March 17, Kritin told Oprah that she felt it was "hypocritical and unnecessary".

Kristin, who was serving as HR head at Astronomer at the time, appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s podcast on March 17, where she reflected on the controversy that emerged after she was caught on the concert’s kiss cam with then-CEO Andy Byron.

The incident quickly went viral, triggering widespread online attention, memes, and, as Cabot described, a wave of harassment that was largely directed at her. At the time, both she and Andy were married to their respective partners.

Addressing that aspect, she clarified that she was in the process of divorcing her husband and believed Byron was as well. The fallout from the incident ultimately led to both of them stepping down from their roles at the company.

During the candid conversation, Kristin also spoke about a satirical advertisement released by Astronomer in the aftermath of the controversy—one that featured Gwyneth Paltrow and was produced by Ryan Reynolds’ company, Maximum Effort. The ad, which poked fun at the situation, did not sit well with her.

“It just felt really hypocritical to me and unnecessary," Kristin said, adding, “That was really disappointing to me. I felt like Gwyneth, someone whose company is founded on uplifting women and women’s well-being … she doesn’t need the money."

She further added, “I don’t know why she felt she needed to throw gas on the fire and get involved in all of this."

Kristin didn’t spare Ryan Reynolds either, pointing out his role in producing the campaign. “I don't wanna let Ryan Reynolds off the hook either. He produced the ad, he created it and his wife [Blake Lively] has just gone through something really similar over the last year.”

Her comment referenced the legal dispute involving Blake Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, where Lively accused him of sexual harassment and retaliation—claims he has denied.

According to Kristin, Oprah Winfrey told her that she had spoken to Paltrow about the ad. Paltrow reportedly said she only agreed to participate because she had been informed that both Cabot and Byron had signed off on it. Cabot, however, said that was not the case.

Looking back at the incident itself, Kristin Cabot admitted it has altered how she feels about the band at the centre of it all. “I loved Coldplay, but that kinda got ruined for me, I'll be honest. Like — not the biggest fan anymore.”
