Saja Boys to make debut

The fictional K-pop group Saja Boys, first introduced in the Netflix animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, is about to make the leap from animation to reality — officially debuting as a real-world music act.

The Federation of Korean Music Performers (FKMP) announced on Thursday that “all five vocal artists of Saja Boys have recently joined as members.” This marks a major step for the singers behind the animated characters, who are now preparing for official music activities under their own names.

With a variety of backgrounds in K-pop and international music production, the recently registered members—Andrew Choi, Kevin Woo, Neckwav, Danny Chung, and samUIL Lee—are a formidable force. After placing third on SBS's K-pop Star Season 2, Andrew Choi gained notoriety and has since developed a successful career as a producer, creating hits for artists such as EXO, SHINee, and NCT.

Former U-KISS member Kevin Woo has made a name for himself in Korean and international entertainment by appearing in musicals and putting out solo albums.

The other members, Danny Chung, Neckwav, and SamUIL Lee, are well-known for their contributions to vocal performance, songwriting, and production in a variety of genres.

What makes this move notable is that most of the artists are based overseas, yet have chosen to formally register with FKMP, showing growing trust in South Korea’s performance rights and royalties system.

“In a time when K-pop content is spreading worldwide, it is meaningful that artists active mainly overseas have voluntarily joined FKMP,” said Cho Hyun, who heads FKMP’s overseas database team.

“As music produced and released in Korea is consumed globally, FKMP will continue to serve as a central platform to ensure that both domestic and overseas artists receive the rights they deserve.”

Established in 1988, FKMP represents music performers across genres — from K-pop and classical music to gugak, Korea’s traditional sound. The organisation’s membership has expanded rapidly in recent years, with Wendy of Red Velvet becoming its 50,000th member.
