Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters has bagged top nods at the Grammys 2026 nominations announced earlier today. The animated film has received three Grammy nominations in the major categories.
KPop Demon Hunters’ song Golden earned the coveted nod Song of the Year. The song Golden, which was written by Ejae and Mark Sonnenblick and performed by Huntr/x (Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami), is also included in the categories for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
In an interview with Variety, Ejae, Nuna, and Ami expressed their excitement soon after the nominations were revealed.
Ejae shared in her emotional voice, “I’m not able to digest this time. I’m still in shock.” Visibly emotional admitted that she hadn’t stopped crying, adding, “It this feels out of this world.”
However, Nuna called the nominations ‘honour’, adding that it was the representation that was important “You’re going to see three Korean faces. To think about the kids who are going to see that, and hopefully for that to shape their understanding of what they can do in this world, is the stuff that is giving me chills up my spine.”
Ejae notably created history by becoming the first Korean-American female songwriter to receive a Song of the Year nomination. She acknowledged that she experienced "imposter syndrome."
Ami shared, “As Korean women, we were often told we have to work twice as hard, we have to show up earlier, we have to show out more than our average counterparts in order for us to receive the same accolade or even recognition.”
Golden competes with Lady Gaga's Abracadabra, Doechii's Anxiety, Rosé and Bruno Mars' APT., Bad Bunny's DtMF, Kendrick Lamar and SZA's Luther, Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild, and Billie Eilish's Wildflower, in the Song of the Year category.
The movie became the most-watched movie on Netflix ever after it debuted there in June. Meanwhile, Golden, Your Idol, and Soda Pop, three of its original songs, have consistently appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
