Kim Soo Hyun to appear before court in 500 million worth lawsuit filed by VT Cosmetics

According to legal sources cited by Korean media, the hearing will address a damages claim of around 500 million won (approximately 350,000 USD) filed against Kim Soo Hyun and his agency.

South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is scheduled to appear before the 22nd Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court on November 21 for the first hearing in a lawsuit filed by cosmetics brand VT Cosmetics seven months ago.

According to legal sources cited by Korean media, the hearing will address a damages claim of around 500 million won (approximately 350,000 USD) filed against Kim Soo Hyun and his agency.

The case originates from his modelling contract being abruptly terminated after personal scandals.

The conflict started when it was claimed that Kim Soo Hyun, a model for VT Cosmetics, had dated the late Kim Sae-ron when she was a young girl.

In response, the brand issued a statement explaining that, after reviewing the agency’s position, they found “significant reasons making it difficult to fulfill the advertising model contract” and officially initiated the contract termination process through legal counsel.

The initial agreement between VT Cosmetics and Kim Soo Hyun was in effect until August of this year.

VT Cosmetics stressed that they needed to speak with Kim Soo Hyun and his agency before taking any action.

The brand stated, “After reviewing the agency’s position, we judged that there were serious reasons preventing the fulfillment of the advertising contract, and we have officially initiated the termination process through our legal representatives. This decision reflects our commitment to uphold the values of the brand and the trust of our consumers.”

Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team, led by attorney Go Sang Rok, has consistently denied all allegations concerning his personal life, particularly claims involving the late actress Kim Sae-ron.

Go stressed that Kim never had a relationship with Sae-ron during her minor years. To support his defense, he presented excerpts from 150 diary-style letters written by Sae-ron to Kim’s real partner while he was serving in the military, arguing that these letters serve as evidence of his innocence.
