K-Pop legends and newcomers clash in YouTube Music Korea’s most-streamed list

K-Pop fans are still trying to recover after YouTube Music Korea dropped its list of the most-streamed artists of 2025 — and to say it caused a stir would be an understatement.

What many expected to be a straightforward ranking has turned out to be a fascinating mix of old favourites, rising stars, and unexpected digital newcomers.

The numbers reveal a music scene where different generations happily coexist, proving that Korean listeners have room in their hearts — and playlists — for all kinds of artists.

With 564 million streams, DAY6 leads the male idol rankings with ease. Even in a market where performance-heavy idol groups predominate, their number one ranking only serves to highlight how deeply the band format appeals to Korean audiences.

With 444 million streams, BIGBANG comes in second, which is almost unbelievable considering how little they do. It serves as a reminder that some legends endure despite significant changes in the industry.

G-DRAGON’s 429 million streams highlight, once again, that he isn’t just influential — he’s foundational. His presence alone shapes trends.

Next up is WOODZ, whose 212 million streams show a consistent and well-deserved ascent. His skill keeps attracting listeners who value musicians who aren't afraid to try new things. BTS continues to manage 203 million streams despite members joining at different times, demonstrating that their relationship with fans hasn't faltered in the least.

The storyline of the female idol chart is equally captivating. Aespa's 537 million streams put them firmly at the top, demonstrating how well-established they are as one of the top girl groups of their time.

With 458 million, IU comes in second, a number that aptly reflects her unparalleled resilience. With 356 million and 321 million, respectively, IVE and NJZ are still in control of the fourth-generation crown. With 280 million, Rosé rounds out the Top 5, showcasing her steady solo presence and delicate vocals.

The virtual space is arguably the most unexpected twist. The rapid evolution of the industry is demonstrated by the success of digital acts like Saja Boys and HUNTR/X in the Top 10.
