American pop star Charlie Puth has once again shown just how much affection he holds for the world of K-pop, opening up about his long-running connection with BTS and his growing admiration for Korean artists.
The singer-songwriter appeared on the popular YouTube show MMTG on Wednesday, in an episode playfully titled “Honorary Korean Charlie Puth Watches Popular K-pop Songs Every Sunday.”
Host Jaejae asked him if he truly keeps up with Korean music shows and idol performances — and Puth’s response left fans smiling.
“Oh, yes. I watch ‘Inkigayo.’ I really do like them all. I was with the BTS boys,” he said enthusiastically, before reminiscing about their friendship. “Whenever we meet up, we just saw each other like a year ago even though it’s been eight years. I’ve known them for eight years. How is that possible. That’s crazy.”
Charlie’s friendship with BTS’ Jungkook is one fans have followed fondly over the years. The two first connected back in 2017, after Jungkook publicly shared his admiration for Puth’s music.
Their friendship quickly evolved into a partnership; they performed together for the first time in 2018 and later collaborated on their worldwide hit song, "Left and Right," which won over hearts all over the world in 2022.

One of the few Western musicians to maintain a consistent, sincere relationship with K-pop stars, Charlie's admiration for the genre is still evident.
His humility and sincere interest in the Korean music scene are frequently praised by fans, who see him as a unique link between two musical worlds.
Beyond BTS, Charlie has also lent his songwriting talents to newer K-pop acts, including Stray Kids and BABYMONSTER, for whom he recently wrote “Like That.”
Reflecting on his approach to collaboration, he said, “I try to write for everybody. I like that song.” He added, “Just anybody who likes music as much as I do. I am always happy to, big or small. I get inspired by everybody.”
