BTS’ Jungkook apologises for hand gesture during live broadcast; fans praise his 'considerate' nature

BTS’ Jungkook is once again earning admiration from fans worldwide, this time for his thoughtful and culturally sensitive behaviour during a recent live broadcast. The singer, known for his candid interactions with ARMY, unintentionally sparked a conversation online after using a popular Italian gesture while reacting to his homemade food.

During a casual live stream, Jungkook treated fans to a cooking session where he prepared pasta and then sat down to taste the dish. Delighted by how it turned out, he exclaimed “Mamma Mia!” while making the hand gesture commonly associated with Italian chefs expressing satisfaction.

Although his tone was playful and harmless, Jungkook immediately paused to reflect on the gesture. He apologised in real time, saying he wasn’t completely sure of the gesture’s full cultural meaning and wanted to ensure he didn’t offend anyone unintentionally. He clarified that if it carried any negative interpretation or was disrespectful in certain contexts, he was truly sorry for using it.

His quick and sincere apology resonated strongly with fans. Netizens applauded Jungkook’s awareness and sensitivity. Many noted that he had used the gesture in the correct context, simply to express enjoyment of his food, yet still took responsibility in case it was misunderstood. Fans praised him for setting an example of mindful communication.

Last week, Jungkook drew attention for another reason when a Dispatch reporter approached him at the airport. Jungkook candidly called him out asking, “How did you know and come (here)?” Fans praised the singer for calling out the invasion of privacy.

Meanwhile a third trespassing attempt was reported at Jungkook’s residence, this time involving a Japanese woman who allegedly tried to access his home earlier this month. Yongsan Police Precinct said that the woman is under suspicion of attempted trespassing.
