During a casual live stream, Jungkook treated fans to a cooking session where he prepared pasta and then sat down to taste the dish. Delighted by how it turned out, he exclaimed “Mamma Mia!” while making the hand gesture commonly associated with Italian chefs expressing satisfaction.

Although his tone was playful and harmless, Jungkook immediately paused to reflect on the gesture. He apologised in real time, saying he wasn’t completely sure of the gesture’s full cultural meaning and wanted to ensure he didn’t offend anyone unintentionally. He clarified that if it carried any negative interpretation or was disrespectful in certain contexts, he was truly sorry for using it.
jungkook being a kind, respectful, and considerate person as always🥹🐰 But wait… is this a bad gesture? Don’t people also do it when they’re happy? Like when they eat something delicious, they do this, right? I’m not really sure. If this is actually a rude gesture, I’m sorry.… pic.twitter.com/KVkrMOX2UY

He used it correctly and it was very endearing and sweet. I wish he wouldn’t have to worry about it, but he’s so sweet to be concerned. it was a completely authentic and accurate gesture when food is delicious and you’re happy to eat it.🤌🏼♥️— Tara ⟭⟬ ⟬⟭ ⁷ 💜 HYYH 2026 (@TR_2230) November 24, 2025

His quick and sincere apology resonated strongly with fans. Netizens applauded Jungkook’s awareness and sensitivity. Many noted that he had used the gesture in the correct context, simply to express enjoyment of his food, yet still took responsibility in case it was misunderstood. Fans praised him for setting an example of mindful communication.
Last week, Jungkook drew attention for another reason when a Dispatch reporter approached him at the airport. Jungkook candidly called him out asking, “How did you know and come (here)?” Fans praised the singer for calling out the invasion of privacy.
