Blackpink member Rosé has found herself at the centre of an online storm after being cropped out of a group photo from Paris Fashion Week, sparking accusations of racism and bias against the K-pop star. The incident took place earlier this week at the Saint Laurent Women’s 2026 S/S Collection show, where Rosé, a global ambassador for the brand, attended the event sitting front row alongside Hailey Bieber, Zoë Kravitz, and Charli XCX.
In the original photos, Rosé is clearly visible, positioned on the far right. However, when ELLE UK shared the group photo on Instagram, she was completely cropped out.
Fans immediately called out the move, flooding the comments section with questions like “Where is Rosé?” and accusing the outlet of hypocrisy for championing diversity and feminism while erasing a prominent Asian star.
Critics pointed out that Rosé wasn’t just another guest—she was a global ambassador for Saint Laurent, making her exclusion even harder to justify.
Faced with mounting backlash, ELLE UK deleted the controversial post and uploaded a solo image of Rosé with the caption, “The most standout look came courtesy of Blackpink star Rosé.” They later issued an apology via Instagram Stories, saying the crop was “for size” and insisting no offense was intended. The statement added that the magazine would strive to “represent the full spectrum of [their] audience” in the future.

But for many fans, the apology fell flat. One social media user wrote, “That reads like, ‘Sorry we didn’t post the Asian you wanted to see,’ not ‘Sorry for being racist.’” Another commented, “Saying they ‘didn’t mean to offend anyone’ is such BS… The intention was crystal clear.” Others accused the publication of only apologizing because Rosé’s global popularity forced their hand.
The controversy deepened when Hailey Bieber reshared Charli XCX’s content on October 1, which included another group shot where Rosé appeared noticeably darkened. This added fuel to the outrage, with fans calling it yet another instance of erasure.
