BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has come under criticism after comments she made about the group’s long-awaited comeback were interpreted by some fans as clashing with BTS’s expected return.
BLACKPINK have been teasing a new album for months, though recent reports confirmed the project has been delayed until 2026.
During her latest interview and editorial with ELLE Korea, Jisoo addressed the timeline directly, saying that BLACKPINK’s next album is slated for early next year, and that she too will release a solo project around the same time.
JISOO talks about her next album. —Since I’m preparing for my next solo album, as well as BLACKPINK’s new album to be released early next year, I feel like I’m living solely within music. I’m still excited because when I feel and find new emotions in new music, I want to let… pic.twitter.com/DIatLkwKsd— FOREVER KIM JISOO (@ForeverKimJisoo) November 27, 2025
While many fans welcomed the update, the comments unexpectedly sparked backlash in certain online communities.
BTS members, all of whom completed their military service by mid-2025, have dropped several hints pointing to a group comeback and a large-scale tour in 2026. Because of this, some online users accused BLACKPINK of timing their comeback to “clash” with BTS’s promotional year.
A few critics speculated that the group’s delayed return was intentionally aligned with BTS’s schedule. "This group is begging to be crushed by BTS," commented a fan.
"Imagine announcing your comeback in 2025 because you thought BTS would come back after their military service, but now they've said they'll do it in 2026, the so-called biggest K-pop groups worldwide are adjusting their comeback to that of BTS," shared another.

"Crazy coincidence," pointed out a fan.

Amid the noise, many BLINKs and neutral K-pop fans defended Jisoo, pointing out that she merely shared information previously hinted at by their agency.
They also pointed out that BLACKPINK’s release schedule has undergone multiple adjustments unrelated to BTS and that there is no official overlap confirmed between the groups’ comeback timelines.

Fans also expressed frustration that Jisoo was being targeted for offering a simple update on her group’s music plans.
As of now, neither YG Entertainment nor HYBE has announced detailed comeback dates for either group in 2026, leaving much of the speculation unsupported.
