Vijay Deverakonda’s much-awaited spy-action drama Kingdom finally arrived in cinemas on 31st July 2025, after enduring several delays.
As anticipation around the film reached fever pitch, fans flocked to theatres to witness Vijay in a gritty new avatar. And early figures suggest the film has had a solid start at the box office.
According to early estimates by a trade website, Kingdom collected approximately Rs 15.50 crore (net) across India on its opening day, making it one of Vijay Deverakonda’s strongest starts to date.
The film released in multiple languages and registered impressive occupancy, particularly in Telugu-speaking regions.
Kingdom recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 57.87% on Thursday, July 31. A closer look at show timings reveals:
Morning Shows: 63.56%
Afternoon Shows: 56.52%
Evening Shows: 50.12% Night Shows: 61.27%
The film’s Day 1 performance places it close to Liger, which holds the record for the biggest opening in Deverakonda’s career with Rs 15.95 crore. It has already outperformed The Family Star (Rs 5.75 crore) and sits slightly ahead of Kushi (Rs 15.25 crore).

Directed by a new entrant in the action-thriller space, Kingdom follows the journey of Suri, a humble constable-turned-spy played by Deverakonda. Tasked with a top-secret mission in Sri Lanka, Suri is not only serving the Indian government but also searching for his long-lost brother, Siva—portrayed by Satyadev. The film also features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead and love interest.
Vijay's rumoured girlfriend, Rashmika Mandanna took to her Instagram stories to praise the film, she mentioned "I know how much this means to you and all those who love you @thedeverakonda!! ‘Manam kottinam’ #kingdom," echoing the pride and love that industry insiders, friends, and fans have shown.
A part of review from Moneycontrol.com read, "The first half is slow and uninteresting, despite Gowtam Tinnanuri's efforts to create a multi-layered, emotional story with a spy thriller setting. Despite an intriguing beginning set in the British era, the movie quickly settles into a languid, melancholy plot devoid of dramatic moments or emotional highs. "
