South Korean star Kim Soo-hyun's much-anticipated fan meet in Taiwan has been cancelled following safety concerns.
His agency, Gold Medallist, issued an official statement confirming the postponement, citing "safety reasons" as the primary cause for the change in schedule.
The event, originally set for March 30, 2025, would have been Soo-hyun's first appearance amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his past relationship with the late actor Kim Sae-ron.
"Kim Soo Hyun’s Taiwanese brand event schedule has been postponed for safety reasons," stated the actor's agency. In addition, the event organiser also shared a statement via social media, apologising for the inconvenience caused to fans.
"Performing guest Kim Soo Hyun is unable to attend the event ‘Kim Soo Hyun fanmeeting,’ originally scheduled for March 30, 2025, due to a schedule change. OPENPOINT points will be fully refunded to participating members. Sorry for the inconvenience caused."
This cancellation follows a period of intense backlash online regarding Kim Soo-hyun’s past relationship with Kim Sae-ron, which has raised serious concerns. Allegedly, the two were involved romantically when Kim Sae-ron was only 15 years old, while Soo-hyun was 27.
The controversy intensified after Sae-ron’s tragic death on February 16, on Soo-hyun's birthday. However, Soo-hyun reportedly skipped attending her funeral for reasons that remain unclear.
As fans were looking forward to meeting the actor in Taiwan, the cancellation has sparked further discussion, particularly due to the sensitivity of the situation surrounding his past.
The refund of points and the event postponement have been communicated in efforts to address the inconvenience faced by fans who were eager to see their favourite star.
