Kim Soo Hyun, one of South Korea’s most renowned actors, is facing intense scrutiny following a dating scandal involving late actress Kim Sae Ron. The actor, known for his exceptional talent and wholesome image, is now under fire both domestically and internationally.

The controversy has resulted in a significant drop in his Instagram following, with nearly 1 million users unfollowing him in just eight days. According to Instiz, Kim Soo Hyun’s follower count has sharply declined since the rumours surfaced.

On March 10, 2025, he lost 1,611 followers, followed by a loss of 20,957 on March 11. The decline escalated on March 12, with a massive 200,152 followers unfollowing him. The largest drop occurred on March 13, when 494,129 followers left his account. The loss continued as follows:

This brings the total to 913,805 lost followers, significantly impacting his online presence. As of now, Kim Soo Hyun's Instagram stands at 20,350,183 followers. Many former fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment, with some calling for a boycott and others even demanding his imprisonment.

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron have been linked before, although their relationship was never publicly confirmed. Kim Sae Ron, a former child actress, made headlines in 2022 after a DUI incident in which she crashed into an electric transformer. The current scandal has raised concerns over their alleged relationship, especially due to their 13-year age gap.

Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, GOLDMEDALIST, have denied rumours of a 2015 relationship with the late actress. The actor has also faced backlash from brands, with PRADA and Dinto, a South Korean cosmetic company, terminating their contracts with him.

GOLDMEDALIST further clarified that Kim Sae Ron’s contract was not renewed in 2022 due to her involvement in a drunk driving case.
