Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday, is set to release on April 18. The advance bookings have started today ahead of the release and have started off with descent earnings.
Advance booking for Kesari Chapter 2 opened on Wednesday, April 16, according to data from Sacnilk, and the initial response has been encouraging. The movie had made Rs 81.58 lakh net (excluding blocked seats) from 24,496 ticket sales across 3,503 shows.
The early estimates suggested that with over Rs 3.54 lakh in gross collections from blocked seats, the Delhi NCR region is leading the way among the major metros in pre-sales. Bengaluru and Mumbai, which each earn more than Rs 1.48 lakh, are not far behind.
The movie's total advance booking revenue has already surpassed Rs 1.85 crore net, even after accounting for blocked seats, suggesting a robust opening.
On April 15, Kesari Chapter 2 had a special screening in New Delhi, which saw the presence of several prominent political figures. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the event, along with BJP MPs Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj.
The screening was also graced by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, as well as leaders like Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Ashish Sood, making it a politically significant gathering ahead of the film's release.
During the event, Akshay humbly requested the viewers to avoid using their mobile phones while watching the film and fully embrace the dialogues and the story.

The real-life tale of lawyer C. Sankaran Nair, who became the target of the British Empire after fearlessly exposing its atrocities in India through his writings, serves as the basis for Kesari Chapter 2. Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab and a major player in the horrifying Jallianwala Bagh massacre, filed a defamation suit in response to his revelations.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari chapter 2 is backed by Karan Johar. It is set to hit the theatres on April 18, 2025.
