Actress Keerthy Suresh recently spoke to the Telugu media to clarify her earlier remarks about actor Thalapathy Vijay being a better dancer than Chiranjeevi, a comment that triggered reactions from fans of the megastar.
Addressing the matter, Keerthy explained that her intention had been misunderstood and offered an apology to those who felt hurt.
During a media interaction held in Hyderabad, Keerthy was asked why she considered Vijay a superior dancer and whether her statement had anything to do with comparing the actors’ appearances.
Responding to the question, she said, "It is not about who looks better. I think Chiranjeevi garu himself knows how big a Vijay fan I am. I love Chiranjeevi sir, I love working with him, and I respect him."
She elaborated further, noting that her admiration for Vijay’s dancing was something she had openly shared with Chiranjeevi during their time together.
"I have told him this as well when we had these kinds of conversations. I didn't mean to come across in the wrong way. If I have hurt Chiranjeevi garu's fans, I am sorry. We used to have fun conversations while shooting. When we worked together, I told him, 'Sir, I love Vijay sir's dance and all.' He took it in a very sportive way."
Keerthy reiterated that she did not intend to pit the two actors against each other. She emphasized that her original remark was simply an honest reflection of her personal opinion and admiration, adding that both stars are equally celebrated. She explained that her earlier remarks were simply an honest expression of what she felt at the time, adding that both of them are big stars.
She also highlighted her long-standing respect for Chiranjeevi, pointing out her family’s association with him. "Even my mother has acted alongside Chiranjeevi sir. Nobody is less than the other. Undoubtedly, he is one of the biggest stars in the country. I didn't mean anything disrespectfully at all," the Rita Revolver actor added.
Keerthy went on to clarify that she never intended to rank or evaluate the two actors, saying her comments were rooted in personal experience rather than judgment. She stressed that both are regarded as legendary figures in Indian cinema and deserving of immense respect.
She concluded by expressing regret if her words caused any unintended hurt, stating, “It feels so sad when I cannot say what I feel.”
Revolver Rita, directed by JK Chandru—known for Naveena Saraswathi Sabadham—is produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under the Passion Studios and The Route banners. The film is slated for theatrical release on November 28.
