The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 brought laughter and learning as host Amitabh Bachchan discovered a popular keyboard shortcut.
The episode began with rollover contestant Parth Upadhyay, who impressed Big B by paying tribute to his great-grandfathers. Parth’s respectful gesture earned praise from the host before the game commenced with the first question for Rs 1,000: "What are structures like apartments and bungalows usually built for?" Parth correctly answered with Option D) “To live in.”
Parth, an enthusiast of epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, shared his love for mythology, calling himself a “mytho kind.” When a question related to the poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar arose, Parth recited one of Dinkar's poems with deep passion, impressing Bachchan, who reminisced about his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan's close friendship with Dinkar.
Big B admired Parth’s recitation, noting how it mirrored Dinkar's energetic style: “He recited with this same energy. His voice was a bit deeper, but he had this same enthusiasm in his readings.”
As Parth advanced through the questions, he faced a fun moment at the Rs 40,000 level with a question about computer shortcuts: "Which of these shortcuts can be used to 'undo' something while typing?" Unsure, Parth used his 'Audience Poll' lifeline, selecting Option B) Ctrl + Z, which turned out to be correct.
Hearing this answer, Bachchan was astonished, saying, “I just learned this today. It’s such a useful feature!” He continued, humorously explaining how he often struggles when he accidentally deletes text, only to learn now that “pressing Ctrl + Z can bring it back.”
Parth moved on to a Rs 80,000 question about units of frequency, where he used the 'Ask the Expert' lifeline. With expert help, he chose Option D) Hertz and won the amount.
However, at the Rs 1,60,000 question, Parth hit a roadblock with a query about the location of Roopmati Pavilion and Baz Bahadur’s palace in Madhya Pradesh.
Unsure, he used the 'Gyanastraa' lifeline to flip the question. Before the change, he guessed Option C) Orchha, which was incorrect; the right answer was Mandu.
The new question in his chosen subject of mythology asked, "In the Valmiki Ramayana, who kills the Rakshasi Tataka?" Confidently, Parth answered Option A) Lord Shree Ram, securing his place further in the game.
The episode not only highlighted Parth’s knowledge and passion for mythology but also entertained audiences with Big B’s humorous discovery of the ‘Ctrl + Z’ shortcut—a light-hearted moment that resonated with viewers and added to the charm of the iconic quiz show.
