The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 began with Sumit Yadav, a spirited contestant from Uttar Pradesh, as the rollover participant. Sumit shared his excitement with host Amitabh Bachchan, revealing that his 14-year-long dream of being on the show had finally come true.
"I couldn't sleep the entire night," he admitted, adding that it felt surreal to sit across the legendary Big B. To mark the moment, Sumit sang Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and dedicated it to the host, who appreciated his heartfelt gesture.
The first question of the evening, worth ₹20,000, asked, "What term describes a species with no living members?" Sumit confidently answered Option A) Extinct.
He advanced smoothly to the ₹80,000 question: “A major portion of Nepal’s national flag has which color?” Using the ‘Audience Poll’ lifeline, he selected Option A) Red, which turned out to be correct.
For the ₹1,60,000 question, Sumit activated the ‘Dugnastraa’ superpower, earning a bonus amount.
When asked how he planned to use it, he shared his wish to send his mother to Vaishnodevi, as she had never traveled outside their hometown.
His mother became emotional, sharing amusing anecdotes about her first flight to Mumbai. "Sir, plane mein aisa laga hum gir jaayenge. Kaan band hogaye. Bahut ghabra gaye," she said, making everyone laugh. Big B comforted her with advice on avoiding discomfort during flights.
As the game progressed, Sumit confidently answered the ₹3,20,000 question: “In which state would you find Daimabad, among the southernmost sites where Harappan culture has been found?” He selected Option C) Maharashtra.
Sumit’s quirky humor shone as he revealed he had been practicing Amitabh Bachchan’s autograph since 2013. Mimicking the host’s iconic dialogues from Agneepath and KBC, Sumit impressed Big B, who praised his energy and dedication.
After using the ‘Audience Poll’ lifeline for the ₹6,40,000 question about Salt Lake City hosting the Winter Olympics in 2034, Sumit moved on to the ₹12,50,000 question.
This critical query was based on mythology: “According to the Mahabharata, who among these provided Bhima with a drink that gave him the strength of a thousand elephants?”
Sumit used the ‘Video Call A Friend’ lifeline but remained uncertain. Resorting to the ‘Double Dip’ lifeline, he first chose Option B) Lord Varun, followed by Option A) Devi Ganga. Unfortunately, both were incorrect. The right answer was Option C) Vasuki.
Despite the setback, Sumit left the show with ₹3,20,000, proud of his journey and the memories he created on the iconic stage. Would you have known the correct answer?
