In a recent interview, Lalita Dsilva, the former nanny of Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan, shared some intriguing insights into the religious practices and upbringing of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s children. The revelations highlight Kareena Kapoor's embrace of Christianity and her efforts to maintain a positive environment for her kids.
According to Lalita, Kareena Kapoor follows Christianity and has integrated this faith into the upbringing of her children. Lalita mentioned that Kareena would request her to play hymns for Taimur and Jehangir to foster a sense of positivity.
This practice wasn't limited to traditional Christian hymns but also included Punjabi hymns like "Ik Onkar," which Kareena particularly liked. Lalita said, "Kareena Kapoor follows Christianity, unki (Babita) mother Christianity follow karti hain. Toh mujhe kehti thi ki 'Aapko acha lagta hai hymns lagana toh aap hyms lagayiye'."

The emphasis on maintaining a positive atmosphere was a significant aspect of the children’s upbringing. Lalita added, “Because she (Kareena) also knows that yeh positivity honi zaroori hoti hai bachon ke aas paas. Theek hai ye aapki choice hoti hai... but bacho ka right from the beginning agar aap positive vibes se start karo upbringing toh woh unme already inbred ho jati hai.”
Kareena’s insistence on playing hymns was a part of her broader philosophy of ensuring her children grew up in an environment filled with positivity and good vibes.
Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan married in 2012 and have since navigated their lives while balancing their diverse religious backgrounds.
Saif, coming from a prominent Muslim family, and Kareena, embracing Christianity, have created a harmonious household where both religions find a place. Lalita’s insights reflect this balance, where religious practices are chosen for their positive influence rather than strict adherence to one faith.
The public reaction to Lalita’s statements has been mixed but largely supportive. On platforms like Reddit, many users shared their thoughts, with some expressing surprise and others noting it was a well-known fact. One Redditor wrote, "I thought this was a well-known thing, I have seen Kareena, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora along with their mothers at Mount Mary Church many times." Another user commented, "I think it’s well known that Kareena has followed Christianity for a while now. She attends Sunday masses when she’s free and also the Christmas Eve mass at Bandra church since many many years."

They have been seen celebrating Rakhi, Diwali, and Eid, emphasizing the inclusive nature of their household. This blend of traditions ensures that Taimur and Jehangir grow up with a rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Lalita also shared her admiration for Kareena’s parenting style, describing her as disciplined and dedicated. She said, “Kareena is an amazing mother, she is so disciplined, her kids are also similar. Saif is very much hands-on with his kids.” This praise highlights the couple's hands-on approach to parenting, ensuring that their children receive the best possible upbringing despite their busy schedules.
