Actor Vishnu Manchu’s much-awaited film Kannappa will now be streaming on OTT after a successful theatrical run earlier this year.
The highly anticipated fantasy drama is now available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in India.
Viewers can watch the film in its original Telugu version, as well as dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Amazon Prime Video announced the release on Instagram, sharing a poster of the film. The caption read, “Glory Guts Grandeur all in one epic #KannappaOnPrime, Watch Now.” This immediately generated excitement among fans who were waiting for the movie’s digital premiere.
In addition to Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, the movie features a stellar cast of cameos, including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal. Their special appearances gave the project more grandeur and made it one of the year's most talked-about mythological dramas.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu, the story of Kannappa is inspired by real-life events. The film follows the story of Thinnadu who is a tribal warrior. In the beginning, Thinnadu is an atheist who doesn't believe in religion and traditions. However, his perception about religious practices changes after he meets he meets the Vayu Linga, a celestial manifestation of Lord Shiva.
This eventually leads him to his spiritual awakening, making him one of Lord Shiva's most devoted followers.
One of the most ambitious projects in recent years, Kannappa is built on a huge budget of almost Rs 200 crore. The film's ten-year journey to the big screen was convoluted and drawn out. Tanikella Bharani came up with the original idea, and Sunil was supposed to play the main character.
Kannappa had a great first day at the box office, earning Rs 9.35 crore on its first day in the country. Overall, the movie earned Rs 31.93 crore net in India and an astounding Rs 41.75 crore worldwide, according to trade reports.
Kannappa is one of the most talked about work in Vishnu Manchu's entire filmography over the years.
