Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut recently made an appearance on the musical reality show Indian Idol 15, where she was questioned about her career and the possibility of collaborating with Dharma Productions.
In her characteristic bold style, Kangana quipped that instead of her working with Karan Johar, he should consider working with her. She even humorously offered to cast him in one of her films, promising to give him a "proper role."
The candid remark, consistent with Kangana's outspoken nature, sparked laughter and fueled discussions about their famously strained relationship.
"I'm sorry to say, but Karan sir ko mere saath movie karna chahiye (should do a movie with me). I'll give him a very good role, and I'll make a very good film, which will not be saas-bahu ki chuglibaazi and which will not be just, you know, PR exercise. It will be a proper film, and he'll get a proper role,” said Kangana
For those unaware, Kangana Ranaut and producer-director Karan Johar share a tumultuous history, stemming from their infamous episode on Koffee with Karan. During the show, Kangana famously labeled Karan as the "flagbearer of nepotism," a remark that sparked widespread debate and significantly strained their relationship. Over the years, the tension between the two has played out publicly, with both occasionally exchanging sharp remarks, making their interactions a subject of ongoing media attention and public intrigue.
Kangana appeared on Indian Idol to promote her upcoming film, Emergency, in which she portrays Indira Gandhi, India’s first female Prime Minister.
Emergency is set during one of the most tumultuous periods in Indian political history, focusing on the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975. Directed by and starring Kangana Ranaut, the film features Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade in significant roles.
Emergency is set to hit theaters on January 17.
