Kamal Haasan's Thug Life soaring ahead of Housefull 5 in advance bookings

This week's Box office is going to witness a big clash - it will be Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam vs Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar.

In the first big clash of 2025, Kamal Haasan's Thug Life (releasing in almost all the languages) will be competing with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan starrer Housefull 5.

Thug Life, which marks the reunion of Mani and Kamal Haasan after 38 years is an out an out actioner while Housefull 5 is going to be a laughter riot.

Since it is the holiday time and with kids being at home, it is going to be a tough choice for the audience this weekend.

But going by early trends and advance bookings at the box office, Thug Life is seen moving ahead of Housefull 5.

According to the latest advance booking numbers, Thug Life has registered Rs 3.42 crore gross (excluding block seats) and sold over 2 lakh tickets in 9050 shows. If one takes the block seats, the total will go up to Rs 9.72 crore.

People are showing a lot of interest in Thug Life Tamil Nadu, where it has collected Rs 2.94 crore in the Tamil 2D format itself, with 1.7 lakh tickets sold.

But if we compare it with Housefull 5, Akshay Kumar's film has managed to collect only Rs 2.15 crore gross in Day 1 advance bookings (excluding block seats). It has sold over 70,000 tickets for 10549 shows.

If one Includes the block seats, the collection total comes to Rs 5.7 crore - which is a good figure before its release but it lags behind Thug Life.

But the clearer picture will come out after both the movies hit screens. Thug Life is going to release on June 5 and Housefull 5 will hit the screens a day later on June 6. But the real competition will begin on June 6 when both the movies are in theatres.

Housefull 5 is slap stick comedy and its earlier parts have been loved pan-India. Thug Life is a gangster drama helmed by Mani Ratnam. It also has an ensemble star cast.
