Veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan has announced the postponement of the much-anticipated audio launch of his upcoming film Thug Life, originally scheduled for May 16. The decision comes in light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, with the actor emphasizing that national interest takes precedence over artistic celebrations.

In a statement titled “Art can wait. India comes first,” Haasan conveyed his deep respect and concern for the current situation at the border. He said, “In view of the developments at our nation's border and the current state of heightened alert, we have decided to reschedule the audio launch of Thug Life, originally planned for 16th of May.”

The actor and founder of the political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) further stated that the event would be held at a more appropriate time. “As our soldiers stand firm on the frontlines with unflinching courage in defence of our motherland, I believe it is a time for quiet solidarity, not celebration. A new date will be announced at a later, more appropriate time,” Haasan added.

Expressing his solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces, Kamal Haasan continued, “At this time, our thoughts are with the brave men and women of our armed forces who stand vigilant, safeguarding our nation. As citizens, it is our duty to respond with restraint and solidarity. Celebration must make way for reflection.”

The decision to postpone the grand audio launch, which was set to take place in Chennai, was met with widespread appreciation from fans and industry peers, who lauded Haasan’s thoughtful gesture in light of national concerns.

Thug Life, directed by the acclaimed Mani Ratnam, is a high-octane action drama and marks the reunion of the iconic actor-director duo 33 years after their legendary film Nayakan. The pan-Indian film features a star-studded cast including Silambarasan (Simbu), Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, and Nasser.

Despite the postponement of the audio launch, anticipation for Thug Life remains sky-high. The film is slated for a theatrical release on June 5, and fans eagerly await the new date for the audio launch, which is expected to be announced soon.
